What's New
And Here's What's New At
Flotilla 14-8

Posted by FSO-CS Paul Burns, New Website Address
I am pleased
to announce our new website URL,
WWW.SafeBoatingJax.com
Easy to find, easy to remember, easy to
direct the public to our safe boating features. Currently
SafeBoatingJax.com mirrors our regularly assigned Coast
Guard Auxiliary website, but with significantly increased
storage space that we can use to add more pictures,
publications, video and articles to better serve our boating
community.
Each flotilla
member can also have their own email address
your_name@safeboatingjax.com.
Simply email me with your requested email address name, and
I can set it up within 24 hours.
My new
address is
PBurns@SafeBoatingJax.com
Thanks, Paul

USCG Commandant's Priorities
ARLINGTON, Va. - Adm. Bob
Papp, Commandant of the Coast Guard, addressed
Coast Guard and Coast Guard Auxiliary public affairs and
governmental
affairs leadership on Tuesday, April 12 at the GAO/PAO
Conference held at
the Navy League Headquarters. Papp spoke about his new
"Commandant's
Direction 2011" publication designed to provide a "trackline"
for the
Coast Guard's future.
Building on the four "Guiding Principals" of (1) "Steady the
Service", (2)
"Honor Our Profession", (3) "Strengthen Our Partnerships",
and (4)
"Respect our Shipmates" that Papp unveiled in 2010 to
provide a framework
for the future, the "Commandant's Priorities" for 2011 are
designed to
provide the blueprint.
COMMANDANT'S PRIORITIES:
1) Sustain Mission Excellence
2) Recapitalize and Build Capacity
3) Enhance Crisis Response and Management
4) Prepare for the Future
All Coast Guard Auxiliary members are encouraged to become
familiar with
the Commandant's Priorities. To download the 24-page
"Commandant's
Priorities 2011" publication in .pdf file format, please

Modifications & Updates
1/2/2011 Our website has been
completely updated, although the design has not been altered for this year.
As of this date there should not be any broken or non-functioning links. I
urge all viewers to keep me updated of improperly functioning parts of our
website. It is not uncommon throughout the year for the National
organization to move or change links. Website issues can often be corrected
within 24 hours of notification.

2/23/2011 A three year archive of our
flotilla newsletter the Eight Bells was added to the "Flotilla
Publications" page

New Flotilla 14-8 Staff Officers Appointed for
2011
Here are the Flotilla Staff Officers (FSOs)
picked so far for 2011. These were chosen by me with input from
Mike Morgan as well as several senior members of the flotilla.
If you are not an FSO and have interest in being
one or working with one, please let me or Mike Morgan know. I
want all who are willing to be given an opportunity to
participate, and current FSOs are encouraged to mentor someone
else to be able to take over their position in the future. There
are other FSO positions, such as Communications, which are
unfilled.

Modifications & Updates
1/11/2010 What's New with the 14-8
website? Just about everything. A complete makeover has taken place.
Although many of the pages look pretty much the same, every single page has
been taken apart and re-worked. I think that you will find the site works
faster, without many of the glitches that seemed to pop up with the 2009
version. Some Changes include:
- New Navigation Buttons on the left
- USCGAux Google Search box at the bottom left of every page. Results from
these searches only come from
Coast Guard Auxiliary webpages - A
new Flotilla Calendar accessed from the "Members Section"
- A slightly wider page designed for a more functional look on 90% of the
country's computer screens.

1/24/10 From , FSO-IS
A new Mission
Activity Form 7029h as well as a Mission Activity Worksheet will make it easier
for you to report your Auxiliary Time. A video is also included to help. Go to
the Flotilla Information Systems Webpage for
more information.
