I am pleased to announce our new website URL,
WWW.SafeBoatingJax.com
Easy to find, easy to remember, easy to direct the public to our
safe boating features. Currently SafeBoatingJax.com mirrors our
regularly assigned Coast Guard Auxiliary website, but with
significantly increased storage space that we can use to add
more pictures, publications, video and articles to better serve
our boating community.
Each flotilla member can also
have their own email address
your_name@safeboatingjax.com.
Simply email me with your requested email address name, and I
can set it up within 24 hours.
My new address is
PBurns@SafeBoatingJax.com
Thanks, Paul
I urge all Flotilla Staff Officers to
utilize their individual Staff Officer webpages. Send me
what you want included on your page, and I will put it
together for you. Messages, Articles, Pictures, Videos,
Forms Web Links, what ever you want, what ever will enhance
your department. The officer webpages are accessed from the
"Flotilla Departments" button in the left column, or from
the "Flotilla Member's Homepage"
We have a new Flotilla Calendar (aren't
you gland we aren't permanently stuck in June anymore). Send
me schedules and noteworthy events and I will update the
calendar with that information. Whit Vick is going to send
our patrol schedules for the calendar so anybody in training
will know when a boat is going out.
Send me an Email with your ideas,

Our Flotilla website can now be found at a new easy to find
web address, www.SafeBoatingJax.com
Posted 1/11/2010 What's
New with the 14-8 website? Just about everything. A complete
makeover has taken place. Although many of the pages look
pretty much the same, every single page has been taken apart
and re-worked. I think that you will find the site works
faster, without many of the glitches that seemed to pop up
with the 2009 version. Some Changes include:
- New Navigation Buttons on the left
- USCGAux Google Search box at the bottom left of every
page. Results from these searches only come from
Coast Guard Auxiliary webpages
- A new Flotilla Calendar accessed from the "Members
Section" - A
slightly wider page designed for a more functional look on
90% of the country's computer screens.

Announced this week at NACON, Flotilla 14-8's website has
received the Runner-Up Award in the National Best of The Web Competition.
Significant credit goes to to DSO-CM Nestor Tacoronte, who created the
District 7 design which 14-8's website was built. and Congratulations
to
Flotilla 11, District 11SR San Diego who
truly created the best website in the Auxiliary.
Posted 1/26/09 by FSO-CS Paul Burns: Our New
Website!
If you are reading this message, than you already know
that we have a new flotilla website. Last October, the 7th District
announced that it was working toward a goal to "Standardize" websites across
the District, giving them a similar look, graphics and navigational links.
Flotilla 14-8 is one of the first in the District to adopt the new format.
I'm sure that the first thing that you noticed was that we
have a Public Section and a Members Section. In our Members Section you
should find many links and tools to get all the necessary information to
enhance your Coast Guard Auxiliary experience.
If you see errors or changes that need to be made, please
point them out to me. If you have ideas or material to offer and share with
the rest of the Flotilla, by all means don't keep it to yourself.
Send Email Here.
Check back frequently as right now new information and changes are happening
almost daily. If you see the date has changed on the homepage, then
something inside has changed.

Posted 1/20/09 By Paul Burns: Monthly FSO Report to Eight Bells
I am working on an extensive makeover of the flotilla
website. (estimated computer time to complete the project is 80 hours maybe
more) Last year District 7’s website was completely redone, and the
District’s goal is to eventually have all Division and flotilla websites fit
a similar image in graphics and navigation. So far, you can count the number
of D7 flotillas to adopt the new district format on one hand (and have
fingers left over). Although, not officially directed to do so, our own
website design is over 6 years old and could use a new look to reflect the
changes in our organization, so be on the lookout for our new website
sometime in February.
A minor re-organizaion of the links and graphics on our current homepage are
only a temporary change and do not reflect the functions of the new website
In order to better organize links for viewers, the new website will have a
public section and a members section.
Any member input and ideas are welcome, you can send me an email from our
current website.
Some items that I need to build the website include
PE page - I want a picture of a class in action, instructor teaching,
etc
Operations – List of current facilities and pictures of Current
Facilities
Operations – Pictures of “Auxiliarists in Action”
Operations/Member Training – Boat Crew Training Schedule?
Member Training – Any MT schedules for the year, information on maintaining
currency ie. Operations, TCT, Sexual Harassment, etc..
Any other officer that would like to have a webpage, feed me information,
pictures, webpage links, and I will make a page for you.
