As your new FSO for Public Affairs, I have a steep learning curve as I am both new to the Coast Guard Auxiliary and the Jacksonville area.  I want to share what I have learned about 2011 upcoming Jacksonville Area Public Boating Events.  At our the January COW meeting, Rusty Gardner made me aware of www.floridabywater.com/events which includes a calendar of boating events across Florida. The list can be sorted by city and I have included the Jacksonville area events.  Events in red indicate known Coast Guard Auxiliary participation.

The Coast Guard Auxiliary Booth is B-22.  I have talked with Mark Henricks, Division 14 Public Affairs Staff Officer and 14-2 will be staffing the booth.  I encourage our Flotilla members to attend the boat show and visit the booth.  If you have interest in working the booth with 14-2, Mark indicated they are well covered for Friday and Saturday, but may need help on Sunday, Feb 6.  You can contact Mark directly at redlanjax@netzero.com  or (904) 502-3696 to check about scheduling.  Drop me a note and let me know if you get scheduled to work the booth.
